The Moravian Chamber Choir (MKS)
It specializes in a wide range of musical genres. In addition to performing classical choral concert works, oratorios, masses, passions and cantatas by Czech and foreign composers, the choir also sings adaptations of folk songs and spirituals. Most of the choir’s performances are in its home province of Moravia, where the choir is also a regular guest ensemble at festivals and concert cycles (e.g. the Janáček May, Janáček Hukvaldy and Concentus Moraviae music festivals).
Founder of the Moravian Chamber Choir is Professor Lubomír Mátl, who for many years was the choirmaster of the Philharmonic Choir in Bratislava and Ostrava and the head choirmaster of the Prague Philharmonic Choir (affiliated with the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra). Professor Mátl has collaborated with a wide range of internationally acclaimed conductors including V. Neumann, W. Sawalisch, S. Baudo, H. Rilling, R. Mutti, C. Abbado, L. Bernstein, L. Pešek and J. Bělohlávek.
